Farmdogs Gets Festive for a Good Cause
December 7th, 2013 by Hannah Bunn
Farmdog Surf School is excited to partner with the Dare County Arts Council to host our first annual holiday event, Deck the Walls: Holiday Party & Art Market on December 20th from 5-9pm. We’ll pack the house with booths of local artists and craftspeople selling their work, just in time for Christmas. Live music will be provided by local musicians to keep things swingin’ and the Farmdog crew will be serving up fresh juices and smoothies, coffee, hot chocolate, spirits, and more. All food and beverage proceeds will benefit the DCAC’s Community Music School. If you’re on the Outer Banks for the holidays, we hope to see you there! Tacky sweaters encouraged.
UPDATE | Our first annual art market with the Dare County Arts Council went off without a hitch. The turnout was beyond our expectations and every corner of the big blue building was buzzing with art vendors and holiday shoppers making merry and supporting the local art and craft scene. From paintings and photography, to stained glass, handmade jewelry, homemade baked goods and pickled produce, our vendors covered the artistic spectrum with a wide array of wares. Local musicians Ed Tupper, Joey LaFountaine and Stephen Brown, along with a few special guests throughout the night, kept the mood alive and helped us discover that our giant concrete shop has some pretty nice acoustics. The night ended by raffling off the grand prize, a chrome Retrospec Siddhartha single-speed cruiser, the proceeds of which went to the Community Music School along with all proceeds from alcohol sales. Check out some photos of the event below and keep your ears open for news of our next event…
